For those of you who’d prefer something quieter and closer to Bellingham, here is a short list of some alternative accommodations in the area. We suggest making reservations early, as many hotels fill up quickly during the summer.
A high class pad with a romantic view of Bellingham Bay and surrounding islands. Close to downtown shopping and restaurants.
New, middle-priced hotel right off I-5, near Bellis Fair Mall, the wedding venue, and our house!
The Lion’s Inn Motel, about two blocks from us, is a fascinating 1950s monstrosity of thickly-painted maroon lions and retro layout. If it wasn’t for the highly manicured lawn, and the fact that it is located in our quiet, respectable neighborhood, I’d suspect nefarious doings, especially with that kinky 24-hour surveillance! But for under $90 a night? Within walking distance of Diamond Jim’s brunch spot and local bars? Eh, worth a shot!
$45 a night for two people in one of the older neighborhoods in Bellingham. Near our house, downtown, and Wander Brewery! Perfect, as long as you don’t mind staying with an acerbic Brit, a hot hipster librarian, and their judgmental cats.
Cute house, cute hosts, in one of Bellingham’s oldest neighborhoods, within walking distance to us and downtown eats!
There are many other options, both for hotels along Meridian with fairly easy access to I-5 and the wedding venue, and through AirBnB. You can get pretty much anywhere in Bellingham from anywhere else in Bellingham within twenty minutes, so wherever you can find a room for a night or three will work!
